About
Our group of space industry veterans plans to launch a satellite using the latest sat com technology (Ka-band) to deliver low cost broadband over the Pacific region. Territories in the Pacific and South East Asia have a lower internet penetration than their GDP and level of literacy would indicate. This is mainly due to the high cost of internet, powered by expensive submarine cables. With Kacific, we plan to bring direct-to-consumer point affordable broadband to anyone by 2017. Our target will be remote enterprises (mining, transport, luxury hotels), and governments. Our company will customize its satellite payload, user terminals, CRM and billing system (prepaid and postpaid) for the unique characteristics of these island territories. Home to 40 million inhabitants and 2 million high-worth tourists a year, the Pacific region (incl. NZ and Eastern Indonesia) is a profitable opportunity for disruptive broadband providers like Kacific.
